Thomas D. CornellThomas Cornell teaches American History, History of Science, and History of Technology courses at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He lives in Rochester and maintains close contact with the area of Campbell and Bath in Steuben County where his grandparents lived and taught. Tom grew up in Starkville, Mississippi, where his father was a professor at Mississippi State University. He went to Rhodes College in Memphis, to Georgia Tech in Atlanta for a Master's degree, and to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore for his Ph.D. Tom has contributed many essays to The Crooked Lake Review beginning with his account of Charles Lyell's 1841 tour of Steuben County in the September 1991 issue and continuing currently with a series on The Writer's Home Range that began in the January 2008 issue.
