Lake Keuka

(Found by Richard Sherer.)
Oh! Lake Keuka. Tis a lovely place
With grape vines even to its base.
And most the places along its shores
Are covered with boats without their
oars.
And boys and girls go out to camp.
But go to bed without a lamp;
Some sleep in houses, other in tents;
Some are nice, others have rents.
The shape of this lake is some like a mitten.
With one of the corners
a little bit bitten;
The length of this lake is nineteen miles.
And the steamboats stop at every
few spiles.
The lake is covered with steamers great and small;
The steamer Lulu
can beat them all;
Its points are covered with fragrant flowers,
And sometimes they form perfect
bowers;
Its shores are not covered with beautiful shells.
Neither does it feel
the ocean's swells,
And people come from all over the state
To fish for the fish, with different
bait.
Now, if you don't believe what I say.
Why! Come and see for yourself
some day.
